If you spend the 800 and change your gamertag do you keep all you achievements / friends list etc? Anyone know anyone who has done this? I'm tired of people always trying to talk about new york with me lol

While I haven't done it personally or known anybody that has, I can't imagine that you don't get to keep all your achievements. Otherwise, why not just make a new account? The friends list could go either way, but unless you've got a big friends list, it shouldn't be too difficult to write them all down and enter them again.

I'm sure you keep everything - achievements, friends, etc. Someone on my friends list changed their gamertag and he still had the achievements and such.

I think that changing your gamertag name shouldn't cost a thing. Microsoft is just trying to get some easy money by charging money for this action.

I think they are more so trying to discourage people from changing their gamertags.

You will not lose your achievements, friends, etc. I've changed my tag before and didn't lose anything.

Oh thanks, for clearing this all up. I was wondering what the answer to this question was for three years.
This question was asked about three years ago why bother posting.

What the hell are people bringing old threads up for? It just gives the mods extra work locking them up, which they really don't need.
