Arcath over at Penny Arcade made an awsome post regarding Star Trek Legacy which I have shamelessly borrowed large parts of for 360Arcadians (http://forums.360arcadians.net/viewforum.php?f=1) and TeamXbox (http://forum.teamxbox.com/forumdisplay.php?f=128). Special thanks to him for a great OP.

Hot 10 Minute Gameplay Movie (http://youtube.com/watch?v=XlUg5LQBstk) -- Around the 2 minute mark there starts an actual skirmish mission against an AI opponent. It looks ****ing fantastic.

The three eras of Star Trek: Enterprise, The Original Series and The Next Generation make up the single-player campaign. In each era the Federation goes up against the Romulans (ENT), Klingons (TOS) and the Borg Collective (TNG). The Next Generation era also includes Deep Space Nine and Voyager.
This is shaping up to be a Trek gamer's wet dream.

All 5 of the Captain's (Picard, Kathryn, Sisko, Kirk, Archer) are lending thier voices to the game. I think we all can do without Scott Bakula, but hey, I'll take what I can get.

For the record guys this game is an Tactical Squad (like Bungie's Myth series) Game and the spiritual successor to Star Trek Armada. I spent MANY MANY hours playing Star Trek Armada back in my PC gaming days.

The Penny Arcade Legacy thread (http://www.penny-arcade.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=1073841137) has more information regarding PC mods expected to come out for it however it's doubtful that anything except the best of the PC mods will ever see the light of day on the 360.

I have to say though after watching the video I am not debating between Rainbow Six or Star Trek Legacy. The game looks sweet.

Edit: 4 plyr skirmish mode as well. =)

Double Edit: Q/A over at official boards. I asked the questions, the answers are coming from fans who have been following the game forever.

Quote:
1. Does anyone know how the controls will work on the 360 pad?

so far we know from videos etc , that each button on the four pad switches you between ships, you use menues to repair and adjust your settings on ships, buttons to fire phasers and photons.

2. Is the game an RTS or is it a Tactical Squad type game more akin to something like Myth.

Been argued that it's rts, but it really isn't. The game is based of the concept of advancement threw a story plot that within each chapter allows you to gain command points to buy better and bigger ships as you progress threw each generation of star trek. So basicly it's more tatical squad since you can control up to 4 ships and to gain those ships (or newer ones) you progress threw the story and how well you do determains how many command points you are awarded allowing you to buy bigger and better ships from each era as you get to them.

3. Are there production units/bases or is it a "you get the ships you start with and that's it"

You get ships to start with, then as you progress you build your fleet. In another video interview on the xbox360, it was mentioned that the game starts the player off with one ship and you add as you progress, Over 80 ships total, but I think that 80 ofcourse is counting all factions and you only play the feds in the single player game. MP allows you to play borg, fed, rom and kling. Also there are bases per say, it was stated you can take you ship and dock with a station to repair etc, but there is no "production" in the game known in most rts type of structures.

4. Will popular mods hit the 360 marketplace? And will they be free since our PC bretheren will surely enjoy such mods at no cost?

Was stated no mod support for 360 sadly, while the pc does have this option. However in another topic in another forum, one of the devs did mention the obvious "if the game does well then chances are more will be coming"

5. Are 360 and PC servers going to be seperate?

yes, Xbox is over the xbox live and pc will be over gamespy.

6. How do Command Points work in multiplayer?

In another video, a dev deminstrates this well, you can pick your number of players, computer or human, objectives, (coop or not) , point totals , era you want to play in etc.. decent amount of options. (not all we hoped for but decent).. as far as details, command points are pre-determined by you the host and everyone has those points to spend to build their fleet. Also you can limit the number of ships as well (max of 4 each, or less of 1)
Hope this helps.

Still have to wait until the 12th. It's cruel and unusual punishment to keep us ST fans waiting so long...

Well, I played the PC version today. I've been waiting for this game for quite some time, and I must say I was sadly dissapointed. Controls aren't userfriendly at all, and gameplay seems to be repetetive. Off course this was the PC version and controls seem to be designed for the X360.

I think i'll wait for the 360 version and then pass my true judgement.

Looks like the Game has been postponed again. I've been hearing reports of the ship date pushed from the 12th to the 14th. It seems the delays get a little shorter every time. Maybe we'll actually see this on the street come the 15th.

Well it is finally out. I can't wait to get my copy in the mail from Gamefly. I'm a huge Star Trek fan and can't wait to play it.

I've only played it a little bit, got through the tutorial only. If you are looking for a fast paced space shooter then this isn't your game. People have to remember that you are moving a large ship through space and it won't turn as fast as a X-wing (I know wrong movie, but good for comparison).

Controls are a little tough to get the hang of, but I'm sure as the levels you continue through the game you will learn it. Graphics are pretty nice and the addition of all of the captains from the Star Trek movies & tv shows was a great addition.
