Why did this guy play for the USA? He was born in Ghana (?) lived thier most of his life, lived in the USA for a few years, played for them now, so cant play for any other nation, now the day he turns 18 he is moving to Europe (probably England), and will probably spend the next 15 years over here, so why the hell did he bother playing for the US?

I believe that he has only played for the youth or the under 21 squad and not the full squad so theoretically he would still be eligible to play for another countries full team.
also if he lives in england for 3 years i think he would be eligible to play for them
Please correct me anybody if it sounds like im chatting shit??

Pretty sure your chatting shit mate!!
You have to either have a blood relation or be born here i believe....... come to think of it i think you have to have relatives.
He can play for Ghana or the USA only........ personally i think Ghana is the better team a the moment but thats neither here nor there!
Freedy Adu has been on trial at Manchester United for a while and will do very well over here......... The English Premiership is well suited to him

I believe he has played for the full team! 95% sure he has.
If he moved to England and hadnt played for them he could have made the England team, Carlo Cudicini (Chelsea) is eligable to play for England as a GK as he hasnt played for Italy and has lived here more than 3 years.
He's played for the national team ain't he!?
*searches internet for clarification*
Thought I was right...

And I presume he chose America as if your going to be the best at sport in your country, America is the best choice with the money that they throw at their sports stars. The money they earn in baseball and that is unheard of in any other sport!
Oh and I'm not sure that the Premiership will suit Adu, I mean, he's small and fragile, that has never really worked on the whole in the Premiership due to it's physical demands.

In MLS they have wage caps though, you cant earn much thier compared to places like England. I also find it strange that he failed to make the US world cup squad with an average bunch of players yet people like Walcott, Messi, Toni etc etc all made thier sqauds in better teams. I get the feeling he's the 'American hope' that will possibly amount to nothing....bit like Jeff Lacy. (Boxing)

He is small and agile but he is aslo damn quick.............. Players like Aaron Lennon, Jermaine Pennant, Jermaine Defoe etc etc etc are very small and they have all done well in the premiership, plus hes a winger and seeing him tear up and down the wings week in week out would be nice

sports stars here make millions more off endorsements than what they make in salary...not sure how that works in Europe though...
i would call him Freddy Adont...the guy is weak and fragile and as soon as a big back cracks him he will be done. The premiership is much more physical than the MLS by leaps and bounds...
Only Beckham the walking sell out gets millions really in endorsements over here, not quite to the scale of the Americans though.

Not a Beckham fan then!!?
Rooney is going the same way i reckon.......... and as for Frank Lampard, for such an untalented shit bag he seems to get a lot of extra curricular work
