an alert box to pop up when you receive a pm would be good. its hard to notice on the forum when you get one

glad someone figured this out, the one time on the .com forums i had like 7 messages and didnt even know until someone said somehting in a post

Yeah, users have to set that up when they register.
I guess the default setting for that is not to notify via the popup box.
I'll look if I can change the default setting when registering. :)

Yes, you can disable that if you want by going to your profile, and look to the menu to the left that says
"Personal Message Options"

From there you can uncheck
"Notify by email every time you receive a personal message." to disable getting mail when you get new pm's

and check

"Show a popup when you receive new messages?" to get a message when you get new pm's
