Rumor: Gears of War 3 in Development for Fall 2010

The latest EGM (which has Wolverine on the cover) has a rather juicy rumor. Seems that Cliff and the guys at Epic are already hard at work on Gears of War 3 for the Xbox 360. Word is there are plenty of tweaks in the works to the engine and a new 5 player co-op experience. If true, Microsoft has at least another sure fire hit for next fall. Although it does seem to be a bit soon for another Gears game, but perhaps Epic just wants to finish out this trilogy on the 360. Either way Gears fans will be happy to finally close out this chapter in the Locust war. Besides Gear 3, Epic is also hard at work on an all new original horror title which will be multiplatform. 09 looks to be one super busy year for Epic.

[EDIT] - Seems it’s not 09 but 2010, which sure as hell makes a lot more sense. Well nice to know that the 360 has at least 2 more years in it.

Obviously they had a huge f*ckup here because 1st week out they had most played game on XBL then 2nd week Halo 3 took spot over then they lost 2ndspot to COD:WAW
Its obvious the horrible online experience is losing them players.

1 my friends today got so frustrated with all games we played whether be lag/glitches/dumb shit
He actually quit out went to store traded it in for COD.

They need to fix it before even working on 3

Second of all, all they have to do with gears 2 is find some other way to pick a host, like they do in Halo 3. Other than that, Gears of war 2 ROCKS. Along with Gears of War 1.

I was playing Call of Duty 4 around the time I bought Gears 1 and played online once in Gears and didn't even finish the match because it was so terrible.

Now with Gears 2, it's at least a bit more fun but is outdone by COD:WaW by a longshot.

this is what pisses me off. gears 2 is sooooo incredibly different because epic did not listen to it loyal fans, but rather the cod and halo fans to get their players. that is the biggest disappointment i have ever had in my life. i LOVE gears one with all my heart and gow2 makes me wanna do an irish jig on top of baby's. epic needs to one read its own forums and two realize the emence "jew" factor there is when playing geers2 mp. if they dont fix gow2 mp soon Cliffy faggot B will be getting a very angry drunken phone call in the near future.

Yea thats 1 thing be really cool at least add is 3-4 co-op instead 2.

The latest Gears rumor to surface is word that Gears of War 3 is in development and EGM claims (http://www.computerandvideogames.com/article.php?id=203687) will be ready for release Christmas 2010. Even more rumor worthy, EGM adds that the third Gears installment will utilize a "five player co-op experience", which we're guessing is co-op campaign over Live.


But don't get too excited, because these exciting (and somewhat early) Gears 3 rumors have already been shot down by Epic's Mark Rein. Rein informed Eurogamer (http://www.eurogamer.net/article.php?article_id=334533) that the rumors are "total nonsense," adding that "we're still working on improvements to Gears 2." We say keep the Gears 2 updates (http://www.xbox360fanboy.com/2008/12/09/no-brainer-rein-confirms-more-gears-2-tweaks/) coming, the DLC flowing (http://www.xbox360fanboy.com/2008/11/17/possible-gears-2-imulsion-map-dlc-pics-surface/) and we'll shift our focus to Gears 3 in a year or two.

Whatever happened to the time when their were no patches and people just dealt with the problems in a game. Even with the best games made, people are always like this needs a patch, that needs a patch, this game blows until they fix this or that. Then the patch comes and everyones like "the patch sucks" or "my xbox blew up because of the patch"

On another note, the multiplayer is very much to a players taste, I prefer the style of call of duty games (even though COD:waw sucks!) But the campaign and horde are a ton of fun. Anybody who disagrees or says that they need a patch for those is stupid. Not every game you buy needs to be for the multiplayer because if that was the case I would only own about 3 games.

ummm noo they need to make it NOT like halo 3's matching system... right now its like that system which tries to find the person wit the worst connection to host instead of the best.. cause i have 10MB of download speed and 2 MB's of upload, i was playing with some friends who have crappy DSL or worse ( like 200kb's down/up) and we went to theater in halo 3 and it said the friend with the worst internet had the best connection... messed up right that....
