We've got some scheduled maintenance coming up and want to let everyone know that both the Xbox Live® service and Xbox.com will be offline and unavailable starting at midnight Pacific Time on Tuesday October 17, 2006 for up to 24 hours.

Q: Why? Why? Why?
A: Because we're adding some cool stuff. And we have to take the service and website offline in order to do it. We're not doing it to make you mad … really.
Q: What kind of cool stuff?
A: Secret cool stuff that we'll tell you about when we're back online October 18. Other stuff we'll be talking about later in the fall.

Yup, that sucks that they chose that day. At least there's one thing for sure, there's gonna be a whole lot of people playing it online on the 18th after they all have to play only the single player on release day.

Things I'd like to see:
Video confrences (more than 2 users)
Ability to save pictures, sent at a later time. (that IS why we got a 20GB Hdd right?)
Ability to forward pictures.
Gamesave Reset (I can dream can't I)

I doubt it's something as simple as the GRAW reset, that won't need the servers down for upto 24 hours.

I would assume its more to do with a major change, something like better chat updates or gamesave detection/punishment.

Will probably also take time to upgrade and maintain their servers I would assume.

Oh well can wait one day if it improves things.

Xbox Live and Xbox.com will be down on October 17th (http://www.xbox.com/en-US/community/news/2006/1012-downtime.htm) and a lot of folks are already asking how it will effect 360voice.com. It will mainly effect people that are worried about their streak... if that is you, please keep reading.
First, on Monday October 16th, because Live is going down at Midnight, your play day is shortened to 10:00PST on the 16th so we have time to grab your data. That means anything you play after this time won't be recorded. So if you want it to appear on your blog or want to keep a streak alive play before 10:00PST.
Second, on Tuesday October 17th, you won't get an entry for this day and it won't count against you for a streak. Also, your Xbox knows Live is down so it won't be sad if you decide not to play that day. Isn't that understanding? It will be like the day never happened.
Any questions post it on our forums (http://360voice.com/forum/) and we will do our best to answer them.

I second that. I noticed to after the word got out that some gamesavers scored sky rocketed. I guess they wanted to grab what the could before the party ended for them. I dont know if this is related but one of them who raised about 11 000 in 4 days has been banned from xbox live. His also a bridger so that could be the reason to.

Iam far from a computer wiz, but basicly a bridger use his computer to lag people out of games. Easy wins. This guy scares me to cause I was in chat with him once and he was able to tell me my IP address, IP Provider and my location. Needless to say I try not to piss him off.

Super slow is right. I've been trying to play Test Drive, but everytime its goes to start a race it pauses for a while as if its going to freeze, then the race starts. So I was able to get another achievement from it, but its taking so long to get anything done that I thought I would just quit playing and let it be for a while. So while quitting the game and going back to the dashboard, the system froze. Powered down and restarted, but now can't connect. Back to bed for me toooooo:uzi:

I can sign on to Live on my 360, but like a few others here, cannot get into the marketplace. First time I tried to access an arcade game, the console froze (for the first time since I got my new one back from MS in April).

Any idea what status code 8015000a means? This is the message that I got when trying to download Lumines. I want that game now!

EDIT : This is really agravating me, it was working and now for the past hour+ it cant connect. But now for the past 30+ minutes it started to connect but whenever i try and sign onto my account it cant connect. Well, they were going to have to do this sometime. It was because parents were complaining about the "excessive amounts of violence in video games these days", and complaints were being made about parental controls being too inneffective. Just be happy MS took two days of XBL away instead of doubling the price because of lawsuits.:(

24 + hrs of down time for PARENTAL CONTROL?? What if they actually have to update something important?? Will that take a week?? gezz and it didnt come back working right slow slow play. Did they do anything elese or just that? And is it just me or is the 1-800 4 my xbox people dumber than mud? Iv talked to 5 supervisors and it seems like they know less. Im on my 4th x-box and have tried 3 times to get the silver tray one back and they cant deliever. Im not going to get a ps3 because of this but ms blows.
