Started through the game, got through the department store and realized I was missing the birds and metal pieces. Restarted a new game and used the guide to find them all and completed it without using firearms (including compassion, just in case). Went through again to use all the weapons and got the rest of the achievements. 970/970

I've completed the game, but I'm going through it again to get all of the birds, metal pieces and TVs. I'll need to play it with melee weapons only (thankfully, the taser doesn't count as a firearm) and then I'll probably have to play it up until I've used all of the firearms. Getting all 970 points could take me a while.

I started playing this last night and I love the modd of the game, very tense. However this is a rental so I'm going to play through it once. I might go through it again after I beat it to get more of the achievements, because I probally will only have like 450 pts by the time I beat this.

I'd go with a "Must Play" instead of "Must Buy." I finished up this game and saw everything there was to see in about 4 days. Random weapon placement or vagrants that aren't always in the same place every time would be great, but even then, the story and thematic elements don't change.

Don't get me wrong, I feel that Condemned is a GREAT game, and well worth the experience, but I don't really believe that it has the replay factor to justify a purchase, IMO.

I think it's a fantastic game! I've completed the game just going back to try and get as many of the other gamerpoints as I can... For a launch title this was impressive, I got it on Dec 5th but never really played it proper till the weekend :D

Yeah those achievements can cause problems. I would suggest going through the game again picking them up. Make sure that if pick up a bird and die before getting to a checkpoint, that you pick up the bird again after you revert to the checkpoint. Good luck.

I just beat the game for the first time and got all the achievements except for the Melee Mayhem award and Fire-Arm Freedom Award even though I picked up EVERY one...Guess I gotta go through and shoot off the guns and maybe it will unlock for me.

Should I start a whole new game or just load each chapter?? I don't know if I load each chapter that the achievements would unlock:confused:

I loaded a chapter from my original save and played through it and it awarded me the Melee Mayhem which is ALL weapons and fire-arms but I didn't get the Fire-Arm Freedom :confused: ...WTF???????

it is really good but if youve got itme save 54 bucks rent it and play for the melee(the gun one isjust 20 the melees add up to 90) bird metal and tv achievements the first time

ok, i have beaten the game twice. and i got all the birds and metals. i still dont have chief investigator or melee mayhem. could someone elaborate on the requirements for those 2?

Chief Investigatior - Obtained every piece of evidence.

Melee Mayhem - Use every weapon on the game as a melee weapon (includes using the guns as a melee weapon). Must hit the character with them.

Im pretty sure you dont have to hit a character with them, just swinging it once will suffice. I did that and I got the achievement.

Hmm.. strange.. I could only get the melee achievement after picking up and striking an opponent with each weapon. If in doubt, strike enemies with each melee item.

Does finding & picking up a gun exclude me from the "gold melee master" achievement? You might guess I want to go for the melee mayhem and firearm freedom as well, during the same pass thru the game.

only by firing a gun will you not be able to get melee master (you could always use the gun as a melee weapon )

I believe when you start a level over you lose the status of that level meaning any weapons, birds, etc. that you found/used from that level will have to be done again.

I picked up every bird and didn't get the Golden Bird Award:mad: I also didn't get the Fourth Propaganda Report but I got all of the metal pieces! What'd I do wrong!?

I went searching for the answer to this, and about the only thing I could find was "play the game over again hahahah!".....so I guess I'll be doing this tommarow. Should I start a new game, or just replay each chapter?

aha instead of continue game you can also start the chapters, so instead of doing chapter 7,8,9 again i can go straight to 10...duh next time i ll read the manual lol

Just got round to playing this lately. All the old/current links posted in the forum seem to be either down or else overly complicated...

I did happen to track down one guide which is a complete walkthrough and which incorporates all Achievements. Very useful time saver...

Yeah i also have a guide to if anybody wants it ill send it to them i used it and it helped me big time, i am not far of completing the achs so will go back on the game after i finish playing the games i on atm. ;)

in order to get the last acheivement for the birds and the last acheivement for the reports you must finish the entire game in one save without redoing any chapters at all (redoing a chapter voids your chance for these too) its best to play through the game the first time without weapons and get all birds and metal pieces on the one walkthrough then after you beat the boss get your compassion acheivement but NOT killing skx. from there simply reload the last stage(boss battle) and win again this time killing skx for other acheivement and then from there start loading various chapters and run through grabbing the firearms. if you miss a firearm on a level simply reload the level, it WILL NOT effect what guns you've already used and you can focus only on what you still need. fairly easy to get all acheivements on this game is your patient. this is personally one of my favorite games (so dark, so grainy, so evil) and i suggest everyone should take a moment to complete it.

About the propaganda reports, according to all the guides I have seen, you need to find 3 metal pieces for the first, 9 for the second, 29 for the third & 30 for the fourth. The thing is, once you find 3 and get the first, you will have to find 9 MORE, to get the second, and then an additional 29, for the third and yet another 30 for the fourth. So you actually have to find 71 metal pieces for all four propaganda reports. Which means that you have to find all the metal pieces twice, and then 11 more.... :S :P I'm not sure about the birds though

I got the gold melee master achievement before the last chapter, which I haven't completed without firing the rifle, is this supposed to happen or was it a glitch? (not that i'm complaining) :p

THIS INFORMATION IS WRONG
to get the achievements the first is 3 metals total, second is 9 metals total, 3rd is 29 metals total and 4th is all 30 total on one game but you cannot re-do any levels. you must get every bird on every level on that one game or you will NOT get it.

its the same with golden bird award, you must get all birds on all levels in one game without re-doing any levels.

earlier webb mentioned to get melee mayham award you must hit somebody with all melee weapons and all firearms, this is also wrong...... on my first run-through of the game i wielded zero guns (i didn't even use thomas' service pistol, i just kicked the first 2 guys) and i got the melee mayham award. i kept a checklist of what weapons i needed to use next to me, it was very systematic. one thing about the melee mayham and forearm freedom award is that you can get them by re-loading levels just to find certain missing weapons but you DO have to finish the level to get those weapons to count towards your list.

I loved this game and completed it collexting all birds and most metals but the golden bird acheivment didnt come up so i got annoyed and sold it lol.

Yeah ... I know... it's like that ! The creators probably included another 30g achievement , but decided to take it back because it was glitched/impossible ... that's just a theory;)

The truth is much more mundane; the game was released before MS mandated 1,000GS a game.

Can I save a level, quit, then come back to it without missing out on achievements for collecting miscellany? It would have to be a short-ass game indeed to necessitate playing through all-at-once.

The melee works oodles better than the damn knife in Civil War--either way I feel like Jason Voorhees, so FTW!:uzi::)

Yes, I quit mid level many times and reloaded and got almost all achievements the first time through. You can even get your missing achievements on a second play through as the stack. I missed one of the pieces of evidence but got the achievement in chapter four on my second play through when I picked it up (and complete the level). It this holds true, I should shortly get the achievements for finding all fire arms and the weapons before I finish this out. The only reason I am playing through the whole way is to get the gold melee award.

It is pretty easy doing melee attacks only, just don't pick up any guns and make sure you keep decent weapons for as long as possible. Use the taser against tough enemies and stay out of sight if you find someone with a gun. Then smack him in the face with a shovel or something.

I've been through the game three times now and for some reason I can't get the last two reports, the investigator award, fire arm freedom and melee mayhem. If I go through the game on the easy setting and do everything I need to, to get the achievements they will unlock correct? I have not read anything that says I have to be on a certain difficulty.

Don't get me wrong, its a good game, but man oh man you can only play a linear game like this so many times before it becomes a chore. Especially since the last two times I played I must have hit every glitch in the game.

You have to switch from firing mode to melee mode with the pistol.

No, no question is stupid. I believe you have to push the right bumper to switch between firing mode and melee mode.
