My favorite 5, in no particular order:

The Magnificent Seven
Citizen Kane
Bullet
Smokey and The Bandit

Only one I haven't seen is Shawshank Redemption, but it's already on my NetFlix list.

On another note, I know I didn't put it in mine, but nobody put "The Rock" (not to be confused with Dwayne Johnson).

The Shawshank is awesome! A great story told with some great acting. You won't be disappointed, not sure anyone could with this film. Tim Robbins and Morgon Freeman, can't go wrong there :D

Forgot about The Rock, that was an awesome film, I presume you are talking Sean Connery and Nicolas Cage :D

Yeah, I'm not too sure what the "classic type of genre" means, and it is certainly up to each person's individual interpretation.

For my list, I'll think of classics as being as pre-1950.

The Third Man
Rebecca
The Adventures of Robin Hood
Duck Soup
The Maltese Falcon

honorable mentions:
Treasure of the Sierra Madre
King Kong
Nosferatu
M
Bride of Frankenstein
Philadelphia Story
Citizen Kane
It's a Wonderful Life
Sullivan's Travels

Rebel Without a Cause (1955)
Bullitt (1968)
Ocean's Eleven (1960)
Rollerball (1975)

All of these movies can be found on DVD right now. Most of you have probably seen the remakes of the movies that have them. The originals will always be better.
