Written Sunday, January 17, 2010 by Dan Webb ![]() Admittedly we've spent most of the year bombarding you walls of text, and no matter how interesting and entertaining it is (which is very... of course), we thought we'd bring you something a little different today. In the last 30 days we may have brought you our series of Top 5's, but since then you've been reading our Game of the Year awards, our 2009 retrospective and our 2010 written feature. We've even thrown in some in-depth looks at Natal and Microsoft's Game Room, so today we're bringing you a treat. One you can sit back and soak up... and that's a video look at our Top 20 Most Anticipated titles of 2010.

To celebrate Microsoft's upcoming free Left 4 Dead 2 weekend for Silver members on Xbox Live (which takes place this weekend) and the final month of season 2 of the popular live quiz show, 1 vs. 100, we're joining forces with Microsoft tomorrow to give away a handful of year long Xbox Live Gold subscriptions. Starting at midday tomorrow (12pm GMT, Thursday 14th), every two hours until 8pm (GMT) we'll be giving away a year's Gold subscription to Xbox Live to our followers on Twitter. We're planning nothing strenuous or overbearing, but if you want to be in with a chance of winning 1 of 5 Gold Memberships for a year, be sure to follow us and stay tuned tomorrow. What do I get from an Xbox Live Gold Membership? Well I'm glad you asked that, the Xbox Live Gold Membership gives you the following:
If I don't win the competition, how much is an Xbox Live Gold Membership going to cost me? Does it matter if I have a Gold Membership already? Can I still enter the competitions? No, it doesn't matter. Of course you can enter. Are there any region restrictions on the competition? Provided you have Xbox Live support in your country, no. Anyone can join and if you don't win the first time, feel free to enter the next one. So remember, 12pm GMT tomorrow, come try your luck and win some Gold*. *Memberships... Ha!

Earlier on this week we reported that Microsoft at CES 2010 in Las Vegas announced their latest addition to Xbox Live would be coming in the spring, something they like to call Game Room. After gathering information from fact sheets, numerous sources around the web and Microsoft themselves, let us weigh up how the service works, what you can expect to see on it and more importantly, how much it will cost you.
Written Saturday, January 09, 2010 by Dan Webb Whether you’re looking forward to the motion based technology coming to the 360 is moot. Natal is coming and there’s nothing you can do to stop it... well nothing a sane man would do anyway. Microsoft’s famed and ambitious technology is slipping its way into stores this Christmas, and the questions on everyone’s lips are: what can we expect, what does it do and is it possible that you can baffle me with technological jargon? Our answers are quite simple? Read this article, you’ll see, and prepare to be baffled my friend... I’ve got my nerd hat strapped on and I'm raring to go.

So it's a bit of a slow news day so far, how about a giveaway to liven things up? Okay, if you insist. Thanks to Microsoft in the UK, today we're giving away one copy of ODST and two of the rather limited, specifically created, ODST controllers. We'll keep it simple because by the looks of most of you, you're still recovering from the rather heavy festive period and all that sherry. First place takes a copy of the game and a controller, second place grabs a controller. If you haven't picked up ODST yet either, there is also a Halo: Reach beta that will be running in spring 2010, so this might be the last chance to get in on it... you know, without buying the game yourself. Head on over to the forums for the signup thread and the giveaway's rules.
Written Saturday, January 02, 2010 by Dan Webb ![]() I’m going to go right ahead and say it now, 2010 will be the best year for gaming ever... and by ever, I mean till the next “best year ever” comes along and dethrones it. I can’t say I’ve ever known a year like it, 2007 tried its hardest with Halo 3, Assassin’s Creed, Mass Effect and Call of Duty 4 to name but a few, but I reckon there are at least 10-15 triple A titles next year, and I’m only talking the stuff that’s been announced so far. Like I did last year, we’ll take it a publisher at a time. Hopefully we’ll be done before Christmas 2010, but there’s a lot of ground to cover, so sit tight.

Written Friday, January 01, 2010 by Dan Webb ![]() Being inquisitive human-beings, what’s the first thing we do now we’ve ushered in the new year and 2010 is upon us? Simple, we look back. We can’t help it, we’re very reflective creatures, and there's nothing better than spending the first day of 2010 looking back at the last year of gaming. There’s plenty of time ahead to look forward, so for today, we’ll look back at the gaming year’s highs and lows. Just how successful was 2009?
